      Hello Student19,

I suppose one of the strangest things was in a collision between a high speed motorcycle and a car, on a dual carrigeway. The bike glanced alongside the car, the rider fell off and the bike fell to its right side. Hoever, due to the gyroscopic forces of the fast rotating wheels, and because the engine was till running, the motorcycle came back upright and then continued along the road, up a hill for over 200 metres – without a rider. It then slowed enough to fall over and stop.

Unfortunately, the rider died -200 metres back along the road.

The most frightening thing. Hmmm. I am not so sure about frightening, but unsettling and uncomfortable.

A few years ago I went to a collision on a dual carriageway about 1 1/2 miles from my home. Sadly 8 people died, including a 4 year old. The road is in darkness at night and runs through a gap in the South Downs. It is also on a route that I run along and cycle through. I always feel uncomfortable when I run through there. A shame, because the views of the Downs, to either side, are beautiful.
