      Hello bones,

I would definitely be interested in being a student asking scientists questions (not that the web was around when I was young, how old does that make me sound?!). I would hope that it is interesting to talk to scientists directly about their job and perhaps make you think about being one yourself.

Apart from that, I am learning loads from my fellow scientists – as I hope you appreciate scientists tend to specialise in one subject, I am just focused on ‘search’ for example, and know nothing about car collisions, analytical work or very much on flies. this 2 week period is giving me loads of experience on other topics, which I find fascinating!

      Hello Bones,
I am not sure that I am so worthy at my age, not looking at my fellow scientists, who are really at the front of their chosen fields. Any earlier than this in my career and I wouldn’t have been confidant enough in my knowledge.

I think that I am learning almost as much as the students in this event. It is really engaging.

      Mark.

      Hi

I would have loved to do this. But in terms of changing my mind, I dont know. I would have definitely spoken to forensic scientists, as I was interested in this by then, but whether I would have ended up in entomology, I dont know!

      Hi Bones

yes I think so… it would be great to talk to the scientists … I went to a science open day at a University when I was in school which was brilliant, really interesting. Also in Ireland we have a young scientist of the year competition each year for students in school which gets lots of publicity and is really interesting. When I was in school there were very few computers and no internet ! (no I’m not THAT old !!) so we didn’t have the same opportunities sometimes to talk to scientists
