      Hello annabelledaisy,

Yes I had heard this (from a South American prophesy?). I would doubt it if it wasnt due to man (don’t press the red button!), although a very seismically active earth or more sun-bursts next year would make it an interesting year!

Geologically speaking, both of these naturally occurring events (including tsunamis) are pretty common. It would take the Earth’s core and the Sun to cool significantly for us to have a real problem, not for a few million years at least so you wont have to worry!

The only thing left to worry about is an uncharted asteroid crashing into us I guess.

But I have more immediate issues (such as, am I going to be voted off this week?) 🙂

      Hi annabelledaisy,

I don’t think so, but then we’re are making a good effort in trying. Jamie can help more with this question, given his geological background.

However, here is my understanding. I believe, from the majority of the accepted evidence, that the Earth is some 4500 000 000 years old. It is thought to be middle aged, so I would hope not to worry too much about it ending in my life-time.

It is more the condition that it is in as a result of man’s mismanagement of it and it’s resources. I don’t think that it woould fetch much on ebay, if we keep abusing it as we are at the moment.

      Mark
