No I was not. I liked a documentaries like Forensic Detectives, and also loved Jonathan Creek (more of the mystery type of TV than the forensic type). I saw CSI for the first time after I was already involved in forensics.
I am afraid that I was already very much involved in my work in science before those programs began, but certain aspects of them are interesting, despite being quite inaccurate in places.
not really because a lot of what is in the programs is unrealistic, Forensic science is a lot more painstaking and precise, takes a lot longer and isn’t glamorous !
They weren’t on TV when I was young, it was mostly Open University science courses and ‘Tomorrow’s World’ that was good science programmes.
I do agree with you, the programmes have been good at raising the forensics profile although obviously the time frames for analysis has been really compressed and we wont do everything, I just stick to searching for stuff for example!
