      Hi

I personally did not discover this, it has been known since around the 13th century. The chinese solved a murder based on a swarm of flies around a bloodied scythe. It has only been in the last century or so that we have realised they can tell us how long a person has been dead. preliminary work was done on dogs; researchers examined the patterns of insects visiting a corpse throughout the decomposition process, and found that this was able to be replicated, thus used as an indicator of time since death.

      hope this helps
