      Hi Bones

Forensic science is an application of scientific disciplines to serve society through helping to deliver justice. If you think of some of the major criminal activities that occur at a global level such as people trafficking or drug dealing, the use of science in linking cases and providing evidence against offenders is critical in the investigation of these types of incidents. Similarly the use of forensic science in events such as disaster victim identification helps to provide an identity to the dead which is a fundamental human right, the right to be known. So lots of reasons why forensic science is an application of science that is highly beneficial to the world community

      Hi Bones,

I am part of an international network of search experts dedicated to improve detection rates of forensic material, with people working in Columbia, Africa, the Middle East, etc., so is very applied, not just to the classroom!

there are presently more mines laid than there are people on the Earth! And they all need finding!

      Hi

Without entomology, time since death (TSD) of corpses that are found after 48-72 hours after death is very difficult to estimate. Its a vital job to be able to determine TSD; to be able pin down a time frame for when the person died such that suspects can be identified and questioned for an alibi.

      Hello Bones,

You certainly know how to set essay style questions. I hope that my homework is up to scratch.

I am not sure of the meaning behind the structure of your question, but I gather that the choosing would be by other people. I don’t realistically see how my investigations are likely to have any effect on the world community, only possibly the national community, through road safety findings and recommendations to the highways departments and motor industry.

More may be possible with my research into aspects of driver psychology. If I find myself lucky enough to produce a worthy research project, a paper may possibly be published from it, which may find its way into the world scientific community, through journals and on-line libraries – Science Direct, Elsevier, and others.

I really think that this question would be better answered by Kat, Niamh, Jodie and Jamie, all of whom work in research and would, have, or are quite likely to present research findings at national and international conferences.

I think that this addresses your question.

      Thank you.

      Mark.
