• Question: in your opinion, how many cars would need to be involved in a collision for it to be considered as a mass pile up or a case of great importance?

      Hi Johny,

For a crash on a motorway or dual carrigeway, a collision of more than 11 vehicles is classed as a ‘Mowinc’ or a major collision. If this occurrs, then the emergency services all have set attendance plans that they can swing into action.

I fa crash has only one vehicle, with a casulaty with life-threatening injuries, or a fatality, then that is considered to be of great importance. An action plan is also used by the emergency services. When this is commenced, that is when I am called to attend the scene.

Thank you for a good question.

      Mark.
