• Question: If you created a new element/atom what would you name it and why?

      Wow! Something I’d never be lucky enough to do but I’ll have a go at answering!

      I’d probably name it something dull like Natius or Pippyus after my kids, dull eh!

      what an interesting question… I think it would be nice to name it after Ireland maybe…like Americium is names after America… don’t really know though

      Hi Emilyh and Bones,

      If I could create a new element, I would want it to (impossibly) sit below Bismuth in atomic mass. I would not like to create a radioactive element – or one with a common radioactive isotope. I like the idea of producing a semi-metalloid element, similar to carbon, or silicon, which would have high tensile strength, abundance and stability, yet still be able to form useful stable compounds.

      Markellium, symbol Mk might be an idea!

      I like the originality of this question.
