It would have to be a pupae piercer. When preserving pupae, I have to pierce them with a pin three times, before putting them in boiling water. This is very time consuming and fiddly, to get the holes spaced out correctly along the pupa, especially when I cant touch them to avoid contamination with DNA.
Piercing 100’s at a time, with a device that could hold them, pierce with one press and transfer them to water would be fab!
Both of your suggestions sound great! Some sort of clever x-ray machine to look for buried material in the ground would be great and save a lot of time and effort I would say 🙂
